Back in November of 2016, Seafari joined Oceanquest in an effort to rebuild the coral reefs that are situated around Pattaya Thailand. Now some four months on since the initial project began we would like to offer you all an update on how our new coral reefs are doing.
Together with Seafari coral conservators and Pattaya divers have worked with Ocean quest’s Todd Applegate in his coral reef research & monitoring around Pattaya. The coral propagation continues and we are pleased so far with the results. Below are some shots at the Koh Phai Island dive site where our staghorn coral is adapting nicely to the naturally selected rocks we have propagated.
“We are really happy with the response for our Oceanquest Coral Reef conservation project,” said Neil James, Owner and dive instructor at Seafari dive center Pattaya. Neil would like everyone to know that it’s not too late for the Pattaya reefs and together we can make a difference. If you would like to learn about coral conservation and coral propagation just contact us for more info. There is so much going on right now it’s easy to get involved. Even if you’re not yet a PADI Openwater Diver you can still learn about coral conservation and we could even combine your diver training with this learning, what a perfect way to show your love for the ocean!
